Assistant Professor (Lecturer), Lecturer Track

The Department of Health & Kinesiology, in the College of Health, at the University of Utah seeks to hire three teaching faculty members at the rank of Assistant Professor (Lecturer), Lecturer Track, which is a Career-line position, with expertise teaching two or more of the following courses:

· Exercise Physiology ( KINES 3091)

· Exercise Physiology Laboratory ( KINES 4301)—ACSM certification with accreditation experience, preferred

· Physical Activity Epidemiology ( KINES 3670)

· Community-based capstone experience ( KINES 4900)

· Foundations in Kinesiology ( KINES 2500)

· Applied functional anatomy ( KINES 3092)

· Biomechanics ( KINES 3093)

· Motor Control, Motor Learning and Development ( KINES 3550) and laboratory ( KINES 3551)

· Sport Sociology ( KINES 2600)

· Exercise / Health Psychology ( KINES 3350)

· Applied Behavior Change ( HEDU 4250 and HEDU 6260)

· Exercise Programming ( KINES 4465)

· Applied Exercise Programming ( KINES 4466)

· Exercise Instructor Training ( KINES 4464)

· Training and Planning ( KINES 4690)

· Neuromechanics ( TBA)

· Clinical Assessment of Mobility ( TBA)

· Exercise in Special Populations (cancer, diabetes, etc.: TBA)

The primary responsibility is teaching in-person and online undergraduate courses within the Department of Health & Kinesiology. The University of Utah's Health & Kinesiology Program trains future leaders, clinicians, and scholars, with approximately 1,200 students across BS, MS, and PhD degree programs. Undergraduate class sizes typically range from 25-75 students. The normal course load is 4-4, four courses in the fall semester and four courses in the spring semester. Opportunities for summer teaching may be available. Additionally, all faculty are required to engage in university and professional service, including faculty governance. Taken together, this position will contribute to the mission of creating a world of “More Health, Less Medicine.”

The University Career-line faculty structure provides for renewable contracts and multi-year appointments.

Candidates must have a master's degree, preferably a Ph.D., in Kinesiology or a related discipline. Candidates must demonstrate the potential for teaching excellence.
