POSTDOCTORAL OPPORTUNITY TUMOR IMMUNE INTERACTIONS
AT MAGEE-WOMENS RESEARCH INSTITUTE
AND THE UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH SCHOOL OF MEDICINE
We are currently recruiting postdoctoral associates for projects that are at the interdisciplinary intersection of tumor cell biology and immunobiology.
Dr. Buckanovich is a member of the Magee-Womens Research Institute (MWRI) and the UMPC Hillman Cancer Center. He is appointed in the Departments of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology-Oncology with a secondary appointment in the Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Pennsylvania, USA.
Dr. Buckanovich’s research group studies the role of chemotherapy-resistant cancer stem-like cells and their interaction with the tumor microenvironment. The group uses in vitro and animal studies paired with human tissue studies. Current projects are focused on studying compounds that can target ovarian cancer cells and trigger activation of the immune system with the goal of initiating new clinical trials.
Applicants should have a PhD or MD/PhD degree in a biomedical field, with an effective written command of English. Preferred applicants will have laboratory experience with molecular biology techniques, cell culture, immunologic assays, and comfort with animal husbandry and processing human samples. The salary will be defined in accordance with NIH Ruth Kirschstein NRSA guidelines.
