Job Description

The School of Nursing and Health Studies at the University of Missouri – Kansas City is seeking applications for a 9-month, ranked, non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor position. This faculty position is to teach in our Bachelor of Health Sciences (BHS) program, with a start date of September 1, 2024. The selected faculty member is expected to teach undergraduate classes and support our commitment to respect, integrity, excellence, innovation, and health. This includes mentorship, teaching, and engaging in service responsibilities, such as participating in committees at both the School and University levels.

The faculty member selected for this position will be expected to:

· Teach in the undergraduate Bachelor of Health Sciences program

· Provide leadership in development of instruction of didactic and internship courses/experiences in the Health Science undergraduate program.

· Lead in curriculum development, creation of syllabi, and updates of program curriculum based on accreditation guidelines and effectively evaluate students' learning outcomes.

· Provide guidance in the application of technology to Health Sciences by integrating current research findings and expertise into teaching and practice.

· Act as a faculty advisor for students in the BHS program by providing academic advice and assistance on students' plans of studies and uncomplicated progression.

· Provide service appropriate to the position

·Advance the goals of the School of Nursing and Health Studies Strategic Plan and the University of Missouri-Kansas City's vision and values

This is a full-time, benefit-eligible, ranked 9-month non-tenure track faculty appointment to begin Fall 2024 semester. Opportunity is provided for ranked promotion. Our academic schedules and workload provide for a positive work/life balance.

Qualifications

To be considered for the ranked non-tenure track position as an Assistant Teaching Professor, you must have:

· a Doctoral degree Public Health, Health Education, Behavioral Health, or a related field

· or a Master's degree in Public Health, Health Education, Behavioral Health, or a related fieldandat least 3 years' professional experience appropriate to BHS academic responsibilities provided above.

All candidates should exhibit:

· A record or propensity for quality teaching and service.

· Experience with community planning, programming, and/or policy.

· Experience or ability to integrate technology in teaching and scholarly activities.

· Demonstrated knowledge of, and interest in, diverse cultures and populations.

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

· Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with colleagues, administrators, and other departments.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary is commensurate with rank and determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
