Job Description

The University of Missouri-Columbia, the College of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources, and the Interdisciplinary Plant Group invite applications for a Research Specialist II in the Libault Lab. The primary purpose of this position is to provide support to the members of the Libault lab by conducting daily management and administrative tasks in the laboratory and molecular experiments. This position will be located in Columbia, Missouri.

The Libault lab seeks to explore and understand the network of plant genes, and their regulation in response to environmental stress at the single-cell level. These discoveries will lead to the development of new strategies to improve crop characteristics and performance.
This position will support the objective of the laboratory by fulfilling different tasks including:
  • Support lab members in their research activities
  • Orders of consumables, reagents, kits, and equipment
  • Organizing and maintaining the collection of bacterial strains and oligonucleotides in the laboratory
  • Handling administrative duties (i.e., lab finances, travel organization, scheduling of meetings)
This position presents opportunities to work in a collaborative and very dynamic environment with computational and molecular biologists. This position is a full-time assignment, contingent on successful performance and continued funding.

Shift

Monday- Friday 8am- 5pm

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Three years of experience

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $18.50 - $22.00 per hour
