Job Description

Embark on an exciting journey of scientific discovery by joining our Physics & Astronomy department as a Research Specialist I. Become an integral part of our innovative team focused both basic and applied scientific research and nurturing the next generation of scholars.

As a Research Specialist I, you'll have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of research in the astrophysics of the interstellar medium by analyzing infrared emissions of dust and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon. You'll work closely with leading experts in the field and contribute to a cutting-edge research project tacklinga key problem in interpreting data from the James Webb Space Telescope, particularly on the size and charging ofpolycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon molecules.

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience developing web-based computational tools, and data modeling and analysis.

Key responsibilities
  • · Develop and maintain a web-based platform for computing the infrared emission of dust and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon molecules.
  • · Analyze research findings and interpret results from data obtained from the James Webb Space Telescope.
  • · Collaborate with team members on determining the size and charging properties of dust and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon molecules.
  • · Contribute to research papers and grant applications
Shift

9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with nights and weekends as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Anticipated Hiring Range

The pay range is $16.72 to $22.91 per hour
