Job Description

The University of Missouri,Bond Life Sciences Center, is seekingoutstanding postdoctoral associated candidates to apply state-of-the-art molecular, cell biological and scRNA-seq techniques to elucidate fundamental issues in host-pathogen interactions, immunology, and environmental microbiology in thePaul de Figueiredo Lab. As a member of a highly interdisciplinary, collaborative, and fast-paced team, you will interrogate interactions between bacterial, fungal, or viral pathogens and host cells at single-cell resolution. In addition, opportunities for addressing questions in cancer biology and autoimmune disease are available.

Key Duties Performed by This Position Will Include
  • Lead and execute cutting edge research in the life sciences
  • Collect data and craft manuscripts to support high-quality peer-reviewed publications
  • Participate in collaborative interdisciplinary research
  • Contribute to the assembly and submission of research grant applications
  • Train graduate students and undergraduate students in the laboratory
Qualifications

The successful candidate must have a PhD in Biology or related field or MD by the start of the appointment.

Candidates will be evaluated on:
  • Expertise in microbiology, immunology and biochemistry, as well as those with expertise in confocal fluorescence microscopy and bioinformatic tools
  • Being a persuasive communicator with exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrate the highest levels of professionalism and commitment to advancing the overall scientific mission of the laboratory
  • Possess durable skills of leadership, character, collaboration, communication, mindfulness, growth mindset, and fortitude
  • Be available for reliable and consistent onsite work
  • Excellent track record of peer-reviewed publications
