Academic Program Management Specialist III

Job Purpose
The purpose of the position is to promote engineering and computer science as career paths to late middle school and high school students in determining their post-high school plans. Additionally, this position will highlight opportunities in the College of Engineering and support recruiting by sharing some responsibilities for attending recruiting events, designing and supporting on-campus events, and supporting VIP tours. This position also uses superior communication skills and STEM content knowledge to engage middle and high school educators/students with engineering and computer science fields, skills, principles, and careers through a variety of tools and educational programs with assistance from TTU faculty.

Essential Functions
Contact and build relationships with schools in the 7th-12th grade level (teachers, administrators, counselors, district-level personnel) to inform, demonstrate, and teach them engineering and computer science degree/career paths.

Collaborate with marketing, admissions, and departments in the execution of outreach/recruitment events and initiatives. Evaluate progress towards targets by collecting and analyzing data and generate reports.

Coordinate participation of the college and its academic departments in virtual and in-person outreach/recruitment programs and events both on- and off-campus, including info sessions and tours.

Identify the need for marketing and digital collateral and promotional items, including contributing to their development with the college and university marketing teams.

Maintain database of active 7-12 contacts for the college (teachers, administrators, counselors, district-level personnel).

Attend regularly scheduled meetings and complete other duties as assigned.

Supervise recruiter.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required. Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills. Training in education of minors, 7th-12th grade, such as a bachelor’s degree in education with an emphasis in the STEM field. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Approximately five years of experience, inclusive of teaching in STEM areas at the middle or high school level.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with event planning for a 7th grade to 12th grade audience. Understanding of communicating higher education value, and engineering and computer science degree and career pathways. Second language proficiency not required. Understanding of ethnic, racial, and cultural differences is helpful.

Work Hours:

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
