Samford University’s School of Health Professions invites applicants interested in serving in a Christian university environment to apply for the position of Instructor/Assistant Professor and Director of Clinical Education (DCE) for the Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology program located in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. This non-tenure-track faculty position is a 9-month appointment and will begin in Fall 2024.

The role of the DCE is to provide leadership, ensure quality, and supervise administration of clinical rotations and all aspects of clinical education. The DCE serves as a liaison between the academic program and the clinical education sites as part of his/her responsibilities. Didactic and laboratory teaching are also a significant portion of the DCE responsibilities. Scholarly activity is also encouraged. Candidates should be aware of clinical teaching models, have well-defined computer literacy skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and dedication to the success of the department, faculty, and student body as evidenced by a collegial and positive demeanor.

Qualified candidates must hold a Master’s degree from a CAA accredited program in the field of speech language pathology. Preference will be given to applicants with previous academic teaching experience and experience in clinical education. Applicants should have a minimum of three years of clinical experience as a speech language pathologist and should either hold an active Alabama license or be eligible for licensure in the state. A commitment to academic excellence and the ability to work effectively with faculty, students, and colleagues are expected. To qualify for the rank of assistant professor, a successful candidate will hold an academic doctoral degree in a field related to speech language pathology.

The College of Health Sciences includes four schools: School of Health Professions, Moffett & Sanders School of Nursing, McWhorter School of Pharmacy, and School of Public Health.
