To assist the Athletic Director and Business Office in the day-to day operations of the athletic director’s office, events, and overall athletic department function. These responsibilities include serving as a liaison for the President’s Office, VP’s, Deans, ODAF, HR, Office of Equity and Diversity and University Budget Office. This position provides executive administrative and event planning support as well. 

 

Required Qualifications

Considerable knowledge of accepted practices, policies, and procedures in the planning and coordinating of administrative and support services. Working knowledge regarding financial and budget systems. Some knowledge and understanding of intercollegiate athletics.

 

Excellent public relations skills. Strong and effective organization skills. Effective computer skills such as Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Demonstrated typing and keyboard skills to include excellent speed and accuracy. Communicate successfully both in writing and orally in order to effectively represent the Athletic Director and his/her office to the numerous internal and external public customers that interface the athletic department. Demonstrated ability to provide executive level administrative assistance to include taking minutes, drafting and preparing correspondence, reports and special projects and proposals. Demonstrated ability to promote efficiency, maintain confidentiality and apply independent judgment. Demonstrated ability to interpret policies and procedures to provide excellent customer service. Demonstrated ability to coordinate meetings and schedules with the President’s Cabinet, VPs, donors, business executives and staff. Demonstrated ability to develop and prepare presentations, statistical reports, graphs and presentations. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while producing quality work. Demonstrated ability to independently carry out projects and assignments. 

 

Considerable experience providing operational support. Some experience planning, organizing and facilitating events. Some experience as an executive level administrative assistant. Some experience regarding financial and budget systems. Some experience with Human Resources aspects of hiring, onboarding and transitioning employees.  

 

Additional Considerations (supplemental knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification): 

 

Some previous work experience in higher education. Some experience providing administrative support to an executive. Some experience in fundraising and donor relations and college or professional athletics. Some supervisory experience preferred.  

Conditions of Employment:

 

Monday – Friday 8AM-5PM in office (non-negotiable), some evening and weekend work required.
