ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL

The Liverpool CSD is a leading suburban school district in the CNY region committed to “Preparing our Students for Tomorrow … Today!” while offering a great work environment and an excellent compensation package. The District is accepting applications from dynamic, enthusiastic, and dedicated educators interested in a full-time, 12-month Probationary Elementary Principal (Grades K-2) position with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2024. Must hold appropriate NYS certification. Include a letter of interest and a resume with references.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

  • Plans, assigns and supervises the work of subordinate personnel who record financial transactions in journals and ledgers.
  • Collates figures supplied by Account Clerks (receipts and disbursements) into department ledgers maintained on general accounts and capital programs.
  • Monitors all departmental expenditures by constant updating and review of accounts, to insure that department is not exceeding allocations in operating budget and capital programs.
  • Prepares fiscal statements, statistical reports and cost data sheets upon request by the department head.
  • Assists department head in budget preparation, supplying data analysis on past or present cost factors.
  • Prepares statements of building operation and maintenance costs.
  • Interprets for subordinates new regulations, procedures and requirements as promulgated by the Comptroller, Director of Finance and the State Department of Audit and Control, Payroll Regulator.
  • Develops changes or modifies accounting systems as recommended by local and state auditors, thereby improving knowledge in the accounting field, including changes to computerized systems.
  • Makes independent revisions or refinements when they appear to be warranted.
  • Requisitions all equipment and supplies; processes purchase orders for payment.
  • Journalizes all reimbursements for services performed under programs that receive state aid.
  • Reviews construction and other capital program contracts, including extension of contracts and submissions of bids for new construction or improvement projects.
  • Reviews fiscal procedures and proposals from the standpoint of cost, need and practicability.
  • Verifies, classifies and codes financial transactions for computed input, if ledgers are automated.
  • Evaluates employee performance; may interview prospective business office employees.
  • Supervises preparation and maintenance of payrolls.

Terms of Employment:

Twelve (12) months, Liverpool Association of Middle Managers (LAMM) Affiliated position.

 

ACCOUNT CLERK I

  • (Full-Time/Provisional)
  • 12 months
  • Posts to journals or subsidiary ledgers from records of appropriations, disbursements, invoices for purchases, payroll, receipts or any other original entry media, either manually or by use of a data entry terminal or personal computer (PC).
  • Computes or assists in computing and balancing payrolls, including figuring overtime, deductions, garnishes and adjustments.
  • Receives remittances or fees by mail or in person: verifies amount, issue receipts, computes interest and penalties where applicable, post amounts to appropriate ledgers.
  • Assists in maintaining labor, material and cost of operations records.
  • Assists in verifying and reconciling account balances according to prescribed procedures.
  • Assists in reviewing and checking financial records for arithmetical accuracy and completeness.
  • Operates adding, calculating and other standard office machines.
  • Performs a variety of routine clerical tasks such as sorting, indexing and filing requisitions vouchers, payrolls, ledger cards and other materials to be maintained in a central filing system.
  • May, use a data entry terminal, or personal computer PC for filing or obtaining information.

  • Candidate must currently hold the title of School Secretary I.  Or for a provisional appointment, the successful candidate must be eligible to take the next scheduled Onondaga County Civil Service “School Secretary I” exam and be reachable on the list.
