Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Department of Social Work at Eastern Kentucky University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor for Academic Year 2024-2025. Applicants must have an earned Master of Social Work from a CSWE-accredited institution at the time of appointment. The position begins in August 2024.

This position serves courses in the Social Work program. It requires at least five years post-MSW social work practice experience. The successful candidate will teach on-campus courses (with the possibility of on-line teaching) in the BSW and MSW programs in a full-time annual teaching load. Interest in and experience with field direction and coordination is preferred, and the position may include potential for field direction and supervision of MSW students in field placements.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Earned Master of Social Work from a CSWE-accredited institution at the time of appointment.

Experience:

Experience teaching and coordinating BSW level field practice.

Minimum of five years post-MSW social work practice experience.

Knowledge of current practices in professional communication and social media

Effective interpersonal communication skills

Strong oral and written communication skills

Analytic and problems solving skills

Active and effective listening skills

Ability to collaborate with peers and students

Ability to understand and adapt to current trends in professional communication

Evidence of good character, mature attitude, and professional integrity

Experience teaching across the curriculum.

Job Duties:

Maintain a full-time faculty teaching load, teaching courses as assigned at the times and in the locations necessary to meet the needs of EKU students.
Utilize effective teaching methods, innovative teaching techniques, and teaching modalities, and multiple evaluation and assessment procedures as a means to help meet the needs of EKU students.
Demonstrate the ability to teach, develop, and implement courses related to one's curricular area.
Demonstrate the willingness and ability to work effectively with colleagues to support the mission of EKU, its academic units, and its campus community.
Demonstrate respect for and support EKU's diverse campus community and student population.
