The Health Professions Student Center (HPSC) at Washington State University (WSU) is enthusiastically seeking candidates to join our team as a Student Services Coordinator/Advisor 2 (Health Professional Advisor)

The Student Services Coordinator/Advisor 2 will serve as the Pre-Medical/Pre-Optometry/Pre-Allied Health Specialist. Responsibilities include but are not limited to coordinating an all-inclusive program that provides support for pre-health students in particular, pre-medicine and pre-optometry, regardless of academic major of study. In collaboration with departmental academic advisors, instruct, guide, and counsel students based on their career choice, course choice, and academic major to develop an application process plan for professional schools. Maintain good working relationships with faculty and staff in degree programs at WSU and with admissions offices for the professional schools both at WSU and at other institutions. Provide workshops, personal statement/application assessments, teaching modules, and program assessment.

In addition, responsibilities include, but are not limited to, program development in order to enhance student benefit and satisfaction from involvement with the Health Professions Student Center (HPSC) as well as commencement of a successful realization for a personalized career path. Assist with data collection and development of evidence-based practices in program development and service utilization. Responsibilities include but are not limited to leading others and/or performing senior level professional duties in participating and/or coordinating the development, implementation, and/or administration of student service programs and initiatives including programs of recruitment and retention activities in pre-health representing the Health Professions Student Center at University functions.
Provide proactive outreach and service to currently enrolled students to ensure retention goals are met and exceeded. Establish and/or participate in programs for targeted recruitment efforts. Create and distribute marketing resources, educational resources, and promotional materials for student recruitment and retention programs; provide information to prospective and current students interested in a career in the health sciences; analyze recruitment and retention trends; develop goals and strategies relative to recruitment and retention efforts; prepare reports. Responsibilities may include occasionally working evenings, weekends, and travel.
