Building Inspector
The County Building Inspector is responsible for inspection activities including the building, electrical, mechanical and plumbing codes as adopted by Washington County Nebraska. They also review construction activities for adherence to the County's zoning and flood plain regulations. The Building Inspector assists in reviewing, advising or drafting appropriate building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing codes for Washington County.
A Qualified applicant must be able to perform the following duties:
1. Conducts proper and timely inspections of all construction activities for compliance with the adopted editions of the International Building Code, National Electrical Code, International Plumbing Code and International Mechanical Code.
2. Reviews plans, specifications, and other data to ensure plans meet the minimum requirements of the applicable codes.
3. Issues verbal and written orders for the correction of defects in materials, workmanship, and other code violations.
4. Explains and interprets codes and regulations to owners, building contractors, government officials and general public.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSE Requirements:
1. Possession of a valid State of Nebraska motor vehicle operator license.
2. An ICC Residential Building Inspector.
3. NDEE Onsite Wastewater Treatment Government Inspector.
Preferred Candidates will hold State Electrical Inspector Certification
1. Council of American Building Officials
2. International Conference of Building Officials.
