Essential Functions
• Develop and teach graduate level courses using GIS, spatial analysis, remote sensing
• Develop a new PSM concentration that will have broad appeal to developing leaders in the environmental, conservation and sustainability realms
• Provide internship and career advising for PSM-Environmental Informatics students
• Assist in the review of applicants for the Professional Science Master's (PSM) – Environmental Informatics degree
• Teach undergraduate courses in Environmental and Sustainability Studies
• Teach face-to-face and online courses
• Oversee ESS student research courses (focus on undergraduate student research)
• Lead in advising and growing the ESS Environmental Technology Concentration
• Provide leadership in establishing new international partnerships with other academic institutions
• Work with other faculty to establish and increase partnerships with governmental agencies, nonprofit organizations, and corporate entities
• Assist with recruiting and marketing for SOES, including developing marketing material
• Increase external research funding sources for SOES
• Design the SOES Newsletter
• Represent the College/School on University Committees
Minimum Qualifications
• Ph.D. from a regionally accredited institution in the field of Environmental Science/Studies
• Experience developing and teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses in environmental science/studies
• Experience teaching courses related to spatial analysis
• Extensive background in the application of GIS and spatial analysis to environmental issues
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with online teaching using the Brightspace Learning Management Systems
• Commitment to develop a research agenda in the application of GIS to water-related environmental issues
Compensation and Benefits
Salary
Commensurate with education and experience. Full-time, nine month, non-tenure-track position. Three year contract renewable based on satisfactory performance review and needs of the department.
