Job Description
The supervisor is a position with high visibility on campus and ensures the parking enforcement operations are integrated with dynamic campus situations, including special events, inclement weather, maintenance work, and traffic or emergency operations. The supervisor will use all department parking enforcement systems, equipment and software to supervise the patrolling of main campus and the Virginia Beach Higher Education Center parking lots and garages in accordance with parking regulations. The supervisor will oversee the performance of hourly and student enforcement employees and ensure they have adequate equipment, training, and daily guidance.

Superb observation skills required. Requires ability to learn and interpret parking regulations and procedures. Ability to learn and utilize several different computer software programs. Ability to walk and/or stand for extended periods in all weather conditions. Ability to drive a vehicle safely and get in and out of a vehicle regularly throughout the work shift. Requires ability to focus and record detailed vehicle information, including vehicle make, model, year, and license plate data.
Excellent people skills are required, including the demonstrated ability to positively direct customers, disseminate information, and defuse confrontations. Demonstrated organization and supervisory skills, and the ability to react positively to dynamic and stressful situations.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and to communicate via two-way radio using short and direct commands. Ability to read policies and instructions and provide direction to subordinates. Ability to work with diverse customer groups and motivate a work force.
Special licenses, registration or certification
Valid Virginia Driver's License is required.

Supervisory experience in a customer service industry. Some experience working with data records and multiple software applications.
Preferred knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification
Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, business, management or a related field. Considerable supervisory experience in the parking and transportation industry.
Conditions of Employment
This position is considered essential personnel and may be required to work during university closings.
Normal hours for this position are: Mon-Fri 1:30pm – 10:30pm.Position requires some night and weekend work.

Annual Salary/Hourly Rate
