Director of Broadband Office
Description
The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) is seeking a dynamic leader for an exciting opportunity to direct and oversee statewide broadband strategy in the newly created State Broadband Office. Governor Pillen formed this office in an effort to address the critical need for more affordable, accessible, dependable, and high-speed broadband access statewide which is crucial to future economic growth, investment and prosperity in Nebraska. In addition to leading all office operations, the Director will serve on the Governor's cabinet.

Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, business administration, public administration or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of management experience in telecommunications, business, or government and a minimum of 3 years of broadband telecommunications experience. Related experience and training may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis as determined appropriate by the agency.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five or more years of experience developing, implementing, and managing successful projects and programs.
- Three or more years of experience developing, maintaining, and managing effective business partnerships in both the public and private sectors.
- Three or more years of experience interpreting policies, laws, and regulations.
- Three or more years of experience in contract management, negotiation, and compliance.
- One or more years of grants management experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of federal and state telecommunications regulations.
- Excellent business judgment and strong strategic-thinking, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong team leadership skills with ability to motivate teammates and partners to ensure high levels of engagement and performance.
- Ability to communicate effectively with executive branch, top management, various state, federal and local officials, news media, trade associations, legislature, and congressional representatives and their staff. Strong public speaking skills and the ability to explain complex technical information to the general public.
- Strong computer skills with the ability to produce Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations.
