Examples of Work
Supervise the daily activities of Parenting and Nursery Unit. Interaction between mothers and their babies. Interaction between inmates. Distribute supplies as needed. Observe safety and sanitation for issues. One on one conversation with mothers and inmates aides regarding their progress. Facilitate visiting instructors as needed. Supervise the Nursery Coordinator enter leave time on time records, performance evaluations. Develop lesson plans, curriculum and instruction inmate classes complete passes and class roster for distribution. Schedule and supervise child visits. Coordinate with the Department of Health and Human Services for state ward visits, maintain contact with DHHS caseworkers advising them of visits, progress and obtaining all written permission from legal guardians. Supervise children's day visits, and do evaluations. Schedule and administer the GED testing for the inmates. Review Parenting and Nursery procedures. Speak with other states and parties interested in the Parenting Program at NCCW.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in vocational education plus three to five years experience in field of specialization.
PREFERRED: Three years additional vocational teaching or supervisory experience.
OTHER: Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must possess teaching ability and extensive knowledge of the Parenting and Nursery program to include early childhood development. Must be able to prepare curriculum and supervise the Nursery Coordinator.
