RESPONSIBILITIES
-Identifying external target audiences for various issues, programs, and activities and independently developing the full suite of communication tools and products to reach those audiences. -Initiating, designing, and developing public affairs strategies and programs. -Preparing and/or overseeing the development of news releases, feature articles, publications, speeches, fact sheets, briefing papers, radio and television scripts, and other public information. -Providing direct responses or recommendations on sensitive communication and public affairs matters relating to media inquiries. -Advising on personal appearances and interviews, setting up news conferences in support of a public affairs plan. -Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with representatives of appropriate media and national organizations or public interest groups, as well as counterparts in other Federal, State or local government agencies. -Determining the form, extent, and timing of media information programs. Conducting complex and exhaustive research and assisting in providing comprehensive data to media representatives. -Researching, analyzing, and applying appropriate public affairs protocols according to established instruction, directives and policy guidance, and procedures, ensuring activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements. -Representing the organization with a variety of local governmental, media, civic, service, and educational organizations. - Measuring communication product outcomes and routinely analyzing return on investment.
SKILLS
The ideal candidate is someone with a desire for continual learning and who possesses strong communication (oral and written), problem-solving, analytic, interpersonal skills, and is able to: - provide excellent customer service while remaining focused on outcomes - effectively work (independently and/or within teams) across functional areas in a collaborative environment - manage multiple tasks with competing timelines and deliverables - remain adaptable, agile, and resilient to focus on top Agency priorities An ideal candidate should also be able to demonstrate three or more of the following: - Experience developing strategic communications plans and advising leaders to follow communications plans, including engagement with the press and through social media platforms. - Experience writing remarks and speeches for government officials; drafting and disseminating press releases; developing social media textual, visual, and video content. - Experience dealing directly with journalists, and guiding officials in their interactions with the media. Skill in setting up and conducting impromptu news conferences and briefings. - Experience managing established social media campaigns and utilizing a diverse array of social media platforms to communicate information about programs, policies, initiatives, and other relevant information to the public. - Skill in producing written information conveying complex information to public audiences with different levels of understanding and analyzing the effectiveness post execution. - Skill in working with people to maintain effective working relationships and maintain a network of subject matter experts for use as quality information sources. - Ability to plan and develop news stories, features, and technical articles. Knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred: - Communications - Public Affairs - Social Media - Speechwriting - Journalism - Media / Broadcasting - DoD / Intelligence Community
PAY BENEFITS & WORK SCHEDULE
Salary offers are based on candidates' education level and years of experience relevant to the position and take into account information by the hiring manager/organization regarding the work level for the position. Salary ranges vary by work level. Salary Range: $50,643 - $164,102. On-the-job training. Internal NSA courses and external training will be made available based on the need and experience of the selectee. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, with basic 8hr/day work requirement between 0600 and 1800 (flexible). Additional hours may be required.

You will draft and disseminate press releases, develop social media text and visual content, directly engage with journalists, and guide NSA officials in their interactions with the media.
