HR Generalist with Heavy Recruitment
Human Resources Generalist
This position is a remote position, but must be local to the Boston area as there will be frequent travel to and from our sites in the East coast.
Summary/Objective
The Human Resources Generalist will help manage and support the daily functions of the Human Resources (HR) department for all US & Canada locations. This position includes assisting in the creation and maintenance of HR policies & procedures, fully managing recruitment, processing payroll, serving as administrator on benefit plans (in partnership with senior HR leadershjp), HR compliance, and employee services/relations. As a member of the HR team, this position works closely with all levels of employees from line staff to executive leadership. This position reports directly to the Vice President of People & Culture.
Essential Functions:
- Manage and own the talent acquisition and recruitment processes through the ATS; partner with all levels of management to help with recruitment and its' full life cycle.
- Serve as main point of contact for all payroll & benefit related questions
- Manages all worker's compensation claims and LOAs.
- Process documentation and prepare reports relating to personnel activities (staffing, recruitment, training programs, etc.); compile and maintain electronic personnel files.
- Create and implement onboarding plans and educate new employees on company policies; conduct all new hire orientations virtually and/or on-site.
- Identify ways to improve policies and procedures.
- Assist and help support in resolving employee disputes and complaints.
- Partner with site supervisors, managers, and all level of management to successfully help manage relationships amongst their teams.
- Help ensure compliance with company policies and federal, state, jurisdictional, and local laws in both the US & Canada.
- Other duties as assigned and required.
Recruitment, Training, & Development - 50%
- Provide recruiting and hiring support by using ATS; review resumes, conduct screening interviews, administer tests or evaluations, and reference and background checks, and extend offers.
- Ensure a high-touch, personalized experience for all new hires including onboarding plans, logistics, communications, and initiate the electronic new hire onboarding.
- Execute a well-organized and personalized offboarding process, including partnering with HR teammates to compile and reconcile employee feedback and recommend process improvements based on trends.
Compliance & Policy Enforcement - 20%
- Assist with employee relations issues, interpreting Mispro policies and escalating to senior HR team members when needed and required.
- Help conduct confidential investigations.
- Develop a working knowledge of applicable federal, state, local legislation, and jurisdiction in order to ensure compliance, including benefits laws and regulations, medical leave, and sexual harassment training continuing to grow in these as Mispro expands its domestic and global operations; partner with outside professional resources and counsel as needed.
- Leverage HR expertise to advise on revising or developing Human Resources policies and procedures.
HRIS, Benefits, & Payroll Functions - 30%
- Process weekly payroll via iSolved through MassPay for US employees; biweekly payroll with Nethris for Montreal employees; audit and maintain all time off accruals each week, submit 401K file per pay period, and periodic timecard audits.
- Administration and management of all corporate and employee benefits and services to include health care programs, 401k, life insurance, disability insurance, leave management, and benefits; responsible for monthly reconciliation and submission for payment on all health premiums.
- Assist the VP of HR in the periodic evaluation of programs to ensure the most effective and high-quality programs.
Supervisory Responsibility
- May oversee the scheduling, assignments, and daily workflow of subordinate staff in the department.
- May assist with constructive and timely performance evaluations.
Travel
This position requires between 30% and 40% of travel in the US and Canada; this includes frequent travel to and from the Boston area, NY, NC, and PA. Twice a year travel to California or as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or other related field or equivalent work experience required.
- Professional of Human Resources Certification (PHR) or SHRM certified is preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of human resources, benefits, and payroll experience required; working and supporting small to midsize organizations with several locations locally, nationwide, and/or globally.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state employment in the US; knowledge and some experience in Canadian regulations preferred.
- Proficient in the use of Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) for report generation, database maintenance, and document storage.
- Proficient in processing multi-state payroll for 50+ employees in the US; payroll processing for Montreal a plus.
- Working and continuously expanding knowledge of the Human Resources space, including applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, as well as emerging trends and practices in the Human Resources space.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of products

- Demonstrated success in all Human Resources functional areas within a fast-paced, technically focused environment is essential. Must be hands-on and capable of producing work with limited support staff.
- Must be results-oriented and demonstrate flexibility in dealing with changing and ambiguous situations.
- Demonstrated success working in a highly collaborative, global environment; partnering with team leads, site supervisors, and mangers/directors in dealing with sensitive and confidential employee relation items.
- Excellent communication skills in order to speak and present in front of all levels of employees.
- Show evidence of a capacity to build strong relationships with all levels of employees ranging from line staff to executive leadership.
