FACILITIES MAINTENANCE WORKER
GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:
Performs various building and ground maintenance work as required. Skilled work in one or more of the
trades, which includes maintenance and repair of equipment and structures. Employee should have
knowledge and skills in one or more of the building trades. Work is reviewed by a superior for conformance
and adherence to established codes and regulations. Assesses areas needing repair. The operation of a
company vehicle is required. Performs maintenance as assigned. Reports to the Facilities Manager.
TYPICAL TASKS:
Assist with contacting, scheduling and overseeing contractors for related contract compliance. Performs
janitorial duties as needed to supplement Facilities Maintenance Worker I and/or contract services, including
keeping supplies stocked and ordered. Notifies management concerning need for major repairs or additions to
lighting, heating and ventilating equipment, including troubleshooting operational issues. Performs painting
and all necessary prep work for painting projects. Performs upkeep and maintenance of the parking lots.
Performs other related maintenance activities. Performs the duties of Maintenance Worker I as needed. May
be called on to assist with maintenance or deliveries to other KUA facilities. Exercises safety precautions and
participates in the promotion of a safety conscious workplace by example. Assists with special events and
projects for other departments. Is responsible for grill delivery and cleanup which can take place after hours
and on weekends. Required to work evenings and weekends as needed, including possible weekday evening
swing shifts. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Considerable knowledge of the practices, methods, materials and tools of one or more of the building
trades. Knowledge of tools and equipment used in general building and ground maintenance. Knowledge
of occupational hazards and practiced safety precautions for related job tasks. Must be able to operate a
company vehicle. Physical strength and ability to perform manual labor inside and outside. Must be able to
do heavy lifting up to 100 pounds. Must be able to work on ladders and lifts at heights in excess of 10 feet.
Must be able to communicate effectively with employees, vendors and customers.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school graduate/GED. Knowledge of hand and power tool use. Experience with general building and
ground maintenance. Experience required in building maintenance and repair in one or more of the trades, or
an equivalent combination of training and experience. Ability to operate vehicles and various office equipment.
Have a basic knowledge of using Outlook and other Microsoft Office products.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the State of Florida.
Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) is a municipal electric utility.
Salary range: (Low) $22.79 – (High) $25.30.
