Overview:
Overall responsibilities include evaluating women and men to treat pelvic health issues and lower back diagnoses related to pregnancy, post-partum, oncology, male pelvic health, urinary bowel dysfunction and sexual health within a large private urology practice.
Required Skills:
- Must possess excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, physicians and staff
- Must possess analytical abilities and sound knowledge in Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy to act as an educational and clinical resource in order to assist with development and implementation of programs, policies, and procedures
- Must demonstrate competency in assessment and treatment relative to age and gender specific needs of the patients
- Communicate with referring physicians regarding evaluations with progress notes including daily objectives, clinical goals and frequency of care
- Document in electronic medical records
- CPT and PQRS coding as appropriate for services provided
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Examines and evaluates patient's physical therapy needs (both men and women)
- Formulates a physical therapy diagnosis, and develops a treatment plan with treatment goals directed towards maximizing function
- Demonstrates competency in all clinical knowledge and skills specific to the patient case
- Provides and directs physical therapy services to patients including: assessment, treatment, program planning, and implementation
- Ability to explain each procedure to the patient (and family, if needed) carefully and answer any questions
- Comply with all policies, procedures and training as well as HIPAA and other federal and state compliance regulations
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds unassisted, including patients when required
- Work requires prolonged standing and walking
- Adequate physical ability, including sufficient manual dexterity, to perform the requisite health care services
- Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, and standing, walking, squatting and sitting with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift
- Visual acuity must be adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of patient and reading information from printed sources and computer screens
Required Experience:
- Must be a graduate of an accredited physical therapy program
- Must possess a current unrestricted license to practice physical therapy from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience and a performance record that consistently exceeds expectations
- Must have successfully completed Pelvic Health specialized training program
