Educational Service Unit 6 is seeking applicants for Behavior Program Lead Teacher
The Behavior Program Lead Teacher designs, develops and implements the ESU 6 behavior program that serves a multiple school district consortium.
DUTIES
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Lead educator for design, development and implementation of ESU 6 behavior program serving multiple school district consortium.
- Teaches assigned classes and performs related duties.
- Provides for the reasonable care and safety of students under the teacher’s supervision.
- Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities as assigned.
- Provides care for students, including reporting suspected child abuse or neglect to supervisor and provides medication administration as assigned.
- Leads team meetings for the development of IEPs and provisions of IEPs.
- Performs duties of special education case management.
- Develops and maintains a positive rapport with students, parents, district and community partners.
- Develops and maintains a positive and professional working relationship with other staff and administration.
- Maintains confidentiality of information concerning colleagues, students, and parents.
- Adheres to the code of ethics of ESU 6 and the code of ethics set forth in NDE Rule 27.
- Establishes and enforces expectations for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible.
- Observes and evaluates students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
- Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicates those objectives to students.
- Develops and implements individualized behavior plans to analyze student strengths and needs.
- Prepares materials and classrooms for class activities.
- Adapts teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests.
- Confers with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning.
- Assigns and grades class work and homework.
- Confers with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators in order to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems.
- Meets with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress and to determine priorities for their children and their resource needs.
- Maintains accurate and complete student records as required by laws, ESU 6 policies, and administrative regulations.
- Provides a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate, and use.
- Meets with other professionals to discuss individual students' needs and progress.
- Prepares reports on students and activities as required by administration.
- Instructs and monitors students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injuries and damage.
- Attends professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence and perform duties.
- Selects, stores, orders, issues, maintains and inventories classroom equipment, ESU 6 property, materials, and supplies.
- Regular and reliable on-site attendance is an essential function of this job.
QUALIFICATIONS Masters degree in Special Education or related field required. Three years or more of professional and/or public school work with children and youth with behavior disorders preferred. Valid Driver's License; Appropriate teaching certification or licensure to work directly with students verified with emotional disturbance required (BCBA Preferred).
SALARY RANGE Commensurate with education and experience
