Controller
We are assisting a leader in the engineering and construction industry in a confidential search for a strong financial executive to serve as the Controller of the organization.
The Company is headquartered in Central Indiana, with several offices and customers in multiple states. Their focus is on strong customer service and relationship building. The company is privately owned and managed and recognized as a leader in the industries they serve.
Job Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of the Controller will include
* Work with corporate office to ensure timely and accurate reporting, regulatory compliance and the establishment of the proper close processes to meet accounting and reporting deadlines.
* Responsible for all tax compliance activities, including calculations, filings and payments
* Monthly accounting functions related to closing process, reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
* Overseeing and directing activities to support adherence to the organization's budget
* Overseeing financial planning, accounting functions and benefit management (401k/retirement plans, cafeteria plans, etc.)
* Maintaining relationship with vendors, contractors and lending institutions.
* Evaluate and manage finance and accounting staff
* Support and encourage the organization's culture and core values
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have
* An advanced degree in accounting, business or finance
* CPA designation
* Strong analytic and technical accounting skills with specific proficiency in Microsoft Excel
* Knowledge of industry regulatory environment
* Experience and strong knowledge of state and local tax and compliance requirements
* Experience with sales and use tax, multi-state preferred
* Strong financial background and attention to detail
* The natural curiosity to finish a job while maintaining the highest standards for performance.
* This individual will embrace change management and have the leadership skills to support the development of a corporate culture based on accountability, integrity and personal growth.
* Proven track record of maintaining solid accounting controls, use of GAAP principles and reporting
* Experience successfully managing others to meet deadlines while implementing process and controls in order to provide accurate and meaningful information for decision making at the executive level.
* Leaders with strong analytic and technical skills and a systematization mentality are encouraged to apply.
