We are looking for a Master Maintenance Worker Plumber to provide students, school personnel, and the public with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to learn, play, attend activities, and develop.
Preparation, Experience, Skills:
- A pleasant personality with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and supervisor.
- High School diploma or equivalent (work experience may be substituted).
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to perform tasks unsupervised and supervise co-workers.
- Willingness to voluntarily fulfill emergency overtime obligations.
- Capable of working in adverse weather conditions.
- Advanced knowledge of and four (4) years work experience in plumbing and boiler maintenance.
- Thorough knowledge of the common practices, tools and terminology of the plumbing trade.
- Thorough knowledge of the use and characteristics of common plumbing equipment.
- Thorough knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions associated with the plumbing trade.
- Skill in the use of tools and equipment.
- Advanced knowledge of Closed Ground Loop Geo Thermal systems
- Advanced knowledge of Heat Pump systems
- Must hold Boiler Operator I Certificate or equivalent within one year of employment.
- Demonstrated supervisory ability to proceed on projects and direct help on projects.
- Basic knowledge and welding ability
- Must hold a valid driver’s license.
Principle Duties:
- Performs master-level plumbing work within the maintenance staff.
- Examines school buildings on a regular basis for needed repairs and maintenance with regard to State and local plumbing codes as they apply.
- Performs emergency plumbing repairs with efficiency.
- Performs general plumbing maintenance work as assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds with no supervision.
- Completes work orders, checks and updates plumbing drawings and establishes priorities on plumbing repair projects.
- Assumes primary responsibility for the plumbing repair work within the maintenance staff.
- Supervises and trains plumbing specialists with lesser experience within the maintenance department.
- Assists contracted plumbers, and other contractors as required.
- Maintains sewage lift station(s).
- Operates computer for the completion of work orders.
- Ability to read and work from sketches, drawings, plans or specifications.
- Maintains plumbing supplies and equipment in an orderly manner.
- Adheres to all stated District safety policies and procedures.
- Required to supply and maintain a phone number were they could be reached 24 hours a day in the event of an emergency.
- Participates in rotational weekend building and security checks within the maintenance department.
- Performs related work as required.
- Assist in moving materials and snow removal.
- Carry out additional requests of school personnel and public as needed.

Schedule:
- Full-Time
- Monday- Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
Starting Salary:
- $23.70/hour

Physical Requirements:
- Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls.
- Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine.
- Significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, crawling, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, repetitive motions.
- Ability to climb ladders from four, six, eight, ten and twelve foot step ladders to extension ladders; bend, kneel, and stoop to repair plumbing devices; and carry tools and materials into buildings and up ladders.
Salary: $23.70 hourly
