Position located in Omaha, Nebraska. Under general direction of the Director, Center for Childhood Deafness Language and Learning and the Associate Director, Center for Childhood Deafness Language and Learning, performs professional work as a member of the multidisciplinary team with particular responsibilities for providing evaluation and intervention services for Boys Town National Research Hospital (BTNRH) patients, students in school-based services who have speech and language disorders, and professionals serving students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Major duties to include: Provides evaluations of auditory, communication, developmental, academic and pre-academic skills for infants, children and adults with hearing loss and communication disorders; Designs and provides intervention services in the areas of speech, language and voice for infants, children, and adults with communication disorders; Consults and conferences with principals, teachers, families and other staff, including: officers from other agencies and medical practitioners; Prepares and maintains reports/records on patients/students; Develops training programs/materials and conducts seminars for families and professionals; Assists and participates in the design and implementation of selected clinical research projects; Serves as a mentor for graduate students and clinical fellows in the area of assessment and intervention with infants, children and/or adults with communication disorders, especially individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing or individuals with developmental language disorders; Assists in the quality improvement program for monitoring hospital records for patients with hearing loss and communication disorders.
Master's Degree Speech/Language Pathology or Audiology. Minimum of one year experience in the area of evaluation and/or interventions with patients with communication disorders/hearing loss. Nebraska Speech Pathology License, Certificate of Clinical Competence required.
