Position Summary:
The Director of Alumni Relations is responsible for developing and implementing an annual plan for the engagement, cultivation and stewardship of Avila University's alumni base of approximately 14,000 individuals. The plan will include campaigns, customized strategies for individuals, materials that effectively communicate Avila's message, and moves management to help drive advancement goals.

The plan will include campaigns, customized strategies for individuals, materials that effectively communicate Avila's message, and moves management to help drive advancement goals.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, strategic vision and support, and serve as lead for the Alumni Association Board and committees.
- Implement and oversee alumni strategies that expand alumni engagement with the university.
- Build strong rapport with alumni through meetings, texts, emails, social media, and calls.
- Cultivate alumni relationships for fundraising purposes.
- Develop homecoming strategy and planning with Event Manager.
- Develop short and long-term goals for alumni volunteers.
- Assist Office of Marketing and Communications with editorial content about alumni to support university publications, social media, and communications.
- Foster relationships with regional alumni.
- When appropriate, serve as the lead staff person for recognizing alumni for their accomplishments in the community and within their profession.
- Work with academic departments and co-curricular areas to enhance alumni programming and assist with fundraising goals.
- Plan, produce and distribute monthly alumni E-Newsletter.
- Work with the direct supervisor to ensure communication to alumni is accurate, well-written, and timely.
- Help create volunteer, mentoring, and service opportunities to increase alumni involvement.
- Complete all other duties as assigned.
- Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
- Actively participate in team and University meetings.
- Other administrative tasks (i.e., filing, preparing documentation).
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and a 3-5 years of successful documented fundraising and alumni relations experience.
- Blackbaud/Raiser's Edge experience preferred.
- Avila alum preferred.
- A strong sense of fundraising ethics and practices, and respect for confidentiality of donor information
- Must have strong writing, communication and listening skills
- Extensive and successful experience working with volunteers including recruiting, training and managing.
- Experience setting priorities, exercising initiative, working proactively, and accepting responsibility for meeting deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills, with the proven ability to manage multiple projects and relationships with initiative and independence.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team. Must be self-motivated and disciplined to achieve goals.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed. Some travel required.
- Multi-lingual skills highly preferred.
